The oral region includes the mouth, tongue, lips, and dental organs. The upper passages at the rear of the mouth include throat, palate, pharynx, larynx, and so on. Oral symptoms include mouth pain, mouth ulcers, dry mouth, wet mouth (drooling), and other mouth symptoms. There are also sub-categories: tongue symptoms, tooth symptoms, throat symptoms, etc.
The term “oral” in relation to medications refers to drugs that are taken by mouth. Usually this means “oral medications” taken in the form of pills, tablets, caplets, etc. Another common term is “oral contraceptives” referring to hormonal contraceptives taken as pills.
