Bronchitis: Overview

Bronchitis is the inflammation of the airways leading to the lungs, called the “bronchi”. The term “bronchitis” is usually used to refer to acute bronchitis, which is a typical complication of the numerous respiratory viral infections, such as the common cold, flu, etc. Acute bronchitis has symptoms such as runny nose, sore throat, cough, wheezing, etc. The other type of bronchitis is the longer-term “chronic bronchitis” which is related to COPD and Emphysema.
