Diabetic Gastroenteritis: Overview
Diabetic gastroenteritis does not really apply to any particular disorder. Gastroenteritis is not really a symptom of diabetes in general, and having an upset stomach is not typically a complication or symptom of diabetes. Similar symptoms to gastroenteritis might occur from the diabetic complications of diabetic gastroparesis or diabetic diarrhea. If your doctor talked about “diabetic gastroenteritis”, is it possible that you misheard and the phrase said was actually “diabetic gastroparesis”? Diabetic gastroparesis is one of the major complications that needs to be watched for in diabetics, and may need to be tested on diagnosis with diabetes.
