Gastrointestinal Disorders: Overview

Gastrointestinal Disorders are any disorder of the stomach, intestines, or other parts of the digestive system. Common examples include gastroenteritis, acid reflux, food poisoning, food intolerances, stomach ulcers, and many others. Common symptoms include nausea/vomiting, indigestion, dyspepsia, diarrhea, constipation, and so on. Types based on parts of the digestive system include esophagus disorders, stomach disorders, intestinal disorders, duodenal disorders, pyloric disorders, rectal disorders, pancreas disorders, biliary disorders, and many other subtypes. Malfunctions of specific processes within the digestive system include malabsorption disorders, hypersecretion disorders, gastric motility disorders, and many others.
