MODY Diabetes: Overview
MODY Diabetes, which stands for “Maturity Onset of Diabetes in the Young”, is an uncommon genetic form of diabetes. MODY diabetes seems similar to Type 2 diabetes in its symptoms and effects, but the typical patient is much younger than with Type 2 diabetes. It is important to correctly distinguish MODY Diabetes from the more common types: Type 2 Diabetes (most common), and Type 1 Diabetes (juvenile form). Treatment of MODY Diabetes has some similarity with treatment of other types of diabetes, but there are some differences that need to be considered for a person with MODY Diabetes.
