Pollen Allergies: Overview

Pollen allergies are an allergic reaction to small grains of pollen that are carried in the air from various plants. The most common type of pollen allergy is Hay Fever, also called Allergic Rhinitis. Symptoms of pollen allergy include runny nose (or blocked nose), cough (from postnasal drip), red and watery eyes, scratchy throat, and other similar symptoms. Pollen allergies need to be differentiated from other causes of similar symptoms, such as common cold, upper respiratory viral infections (URTI), and other causes. The severity of pollen allergies often varies throughout the seasons as pollen levels in the air change with plant pollen cycles. Read more about: Allergies, Hay Fever, Runny Nose
