Vitamin C Overview

What is Vitamin C?

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a naturally occurring dietary vitamin. It is helpful to maintain body health in various ways, and also assists in the absorption of iron (see iron deficiency). Low levels of vitamin C are called Vitamin C deficiency, or in its extreme form, it is the disease called scurvy. Vitamin C can be ingested in the diet (e.g. many fruits and vegetables), and there are also Vitamin C supplements available, including various Multivitamin Supplements. Vitamin C overdose is uncommon, but is possible. Read more about: Vitamins, Vitamin C deficiency, Scurvy
