Dyskinesia Overview

Dyskinesia is the general medical term for abnormal movement symptoms involving involuntary movements. Examples include movement disorders such as spasms, seizures, partial seizures, tics, dystonia, chorea, and many other similar symptoms. Such symptoms have many possible causes and the differential diagnosis list varies with the exact type of symptom. Dyskinesias may include hyperkinesia (increased movement) or hypokinesia (reduced or slowed movement). Some dyskinesias occur as a side-effect of medication, or in some cases from the withdrawal of medications. Read more about: Movement Symptoms
