A strain or “muscle strain” is a muscle injury, also known as a torn muscle or pulled muscle. The similar term “sprain” refers to a joint injury to the ligament. An injury to the muscle occurs when it is over-stretched which may occur in various ways, such as sports injury or everyday injury. A strain may affect almost any muscle in the body, although some types of muscle strain are more common: bicep strain, tricep strain, quadriceps strain, hamstring strain, etc.
